3 DAY QUOTE CHALLENGE #1

john-155

Hello everyone!
I got nominated to be a part of this challenge by a new dear friend Tosin of Alethea’s Mind. Do check out her blog here.

I am honored to have been nominated. Thank you very much Tosin for reading my blog, dropping your comments and for nominating me. Maybe one of these days I will write more about our “relationship” (winks!)

I love quotes. At a point in my life, I was a collector of them. I found them to be like little savories/hors d’oeuvres that usually hit the spot. I found they could take me places in my mind and set me thinking…often deeply. So when I got nominated by Tosin, I wondered which quotes to get out of storage and put to good use. As I read her own quotes and the comments that followed, I knew just any quote would not do. And as I thought about it, I was counselled to pick a quote from The Book of Life-changing Quotes, The Bible. I think it best to start from there.

In a Book so laden with mind staggering and transforming quotes, who better to quote from than Jesus Himself.

I am the vine, ye are the branches:

He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit:

for without me ye can do nothing.

John 15:5 KJV

One day some years ago, reading this scripture, I daresay it stood out to me, especially the part in bold letters. Without Jesus, we can do nothing. It sounds really simple, doesn’t it?

Separated, you can’t produce a thing.

MSG

Then He told me to also understand it this way:

Anything we do without Him counts as nothing.

Now that caught me. Just imagine all the things you put yourself into, your efforts, time, money, strength and so much go into so many endeavors which without Christ amount to much less than a pile of dung (at least dung can serve as manure!)

I find that with Jesus at the centre of it all – writing, relationships, ministry, work, everything – it all comes into perspective. Only when I see Jesus in it does it make sense. I hope that somehow makes sense to you.

No write up about Jesus is quite sufficient. We could all write from now till eternity and we still will not quite capture Him. In summary, I will say I learnt in this quote to make everything about Jesus. I am still learning to do that and it has made a whole lot of things easier. I think that will be your experience too. Do try it out and let us know how it goes for you.

In summary, it is all about Jesus. “And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” Col. 1:17. May our lives glorify Him.

The song below became a theme song for me.

Jesus, Lover Of My Soul (It’s All About You) by Paul Oakley

Verse
It’s all about You, Jesus
And all this is for You
For Your glory and Your fame
It’s not about me
As if You should do things my way
You alone are God and I surrender
To Your ways
Chorus
Jesus, lover of my soul
All consuming fire is in Your gaze
Jesus, I want You to know
I will follow You all my days
For no one else in history is like You
And history itself belongs to You
Alpha and Omega, You have loved me
And I will spend eternity with You

The Rules for the 3 Day Quote Challenge:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you. (Thanks again Tosin…God bless you!)
  2. Post a quote each day, and why you like it.
  3. Nominate 3 different bloggers each day.

Now for my nominations, I am sorry to say I don’t really know many bloggers (I would like to though!) so do permit me to take this to Facebook for I know a number there who write and should do this challenge justice.

  1. Stella Odebunmi
  2. Odii Okereke
  3. Meme Jennifer Boham

Do try this out . . . if you may! No pressure though. 😘😘😘
